The kind of incitement is just the same used during the election that has led to the scourge that befell this mighty beautiful nation of Kenya. On the contrary I must commend the Prime Minister regardless of his intentions for making a decision about the Mau saga. He stated categorically in parliament that he is ready to pay political cost for ensuring that the Mau is restored. Now before his foes come out gun blazing that he has an agenda I would say all of them have an agenda but whose agenda befits the nation interests, must be commended...

The Mau issue, well personally I see no cause of discussion, hold its ok we are human beings thus we ought to take diplomatic stands since we got straight thinking civilised people. What amounts to civilised talks and diplomacy? As it stands we have illegal people occupying reserves meant for water catchment which has adversely affected natural resources. So critically is that paramount to discussion or immediate action. If I were the president [I know am not] these discussion would be done when we have the 'Vijana kwa kazi' planting trees to the reclaimed land of the Mau. The sickening part is the revelation of the same fat cats who claim there people be compensated from before eviction. Where is the former president to comment on this issue apparently there is allegation the son owns huge chunk of land there. That is the case of where my people [Kenyans being used again]. I want to believe deeply that there is no vindictive motive when they say Mau has to be restored unless ofcourse its a detour of agendas from the Hague...

Speaking of the Hague, been listening to them speaking carefully listening to them trash others. Some not even sure know what they are saying its amazing the way they all were scared ranting around like little scared rabbits. Just a fact we gotta get the perpetrators the atrocities that occurred. The innocent blood that poured cries for justice the longer we take the longer it will anger them and the great nation will suffer. Look at this, how do we explain the short rainfall, the persistent lack of water in the tap in Nairobi especially given the fact ironically Nairobi is a word derived from Maasai thats supposed to mean a place of cool waters...

The water issue is a thorn God knows... Why isn't someone taking a firm stand I dont think just having guys digging up wells thats enough. Where is the supposed Minister for water who supposed to be taking care of the issue? The whole city is left to few cartels who are fleecing it of moneys by supplying water at the door step for an exorbitant amount. Where is this water that is supplied to the doorstep coming from why not pipe it. Actually in the first place water was and I tend to think is supposed to be supplied for free by the council because thats an amenity the City is taxed for. Then I never understood how water was privatized because that was the beginning of the water problem. The person involved gotta step for sure...

Economic Restructure; Tourism

Its quite a disturbing thought to know how lightly tourism has been taken in this country yet we have it as a number two if not one revenue earner of Kenya. On several occasions we have heard the Minister of Tourism give an outcry of how under budgeted the Ministry is. Just wondering what happen to the fraud or whatever the case that led to the arrest of the PS herself? The scenario is disturbing especially to the tourist investors. We should pick up our tact, For example in South Africa we have funds specifically for SMEs in tourism sector. Young people are encouraged to come up with ideas and they are funded. And we still wonder why its beating us.

Tourism is a sector which would insist should be PRIORITIZED with all state machinery. Why they keep insisting its agriculture number one revenue earner I totally fail to understand given that we have hunger that always hit us. Coffee and Tea farmers threaten to uproot there crops due to lack of payment. some crops have ceased to exist and we even in the process of importing food from Comesa organ plus when hunger hits we import lots of food again. So who can say Agriculture is the backbone of our economy anymore.

Our tourism training institutions have been run down the highly prized Kenya Utalii College has lost its luster. One of the most respected institution not only only in Easter Africa but through out Africa. What has happened a string of none competent institution claiming to teach the hospitality of tourism have sprouted. What happened to the direction we were taking with a serious intent of enhancing tourism?

Well it worries me a lot when we have the political class bickering making the country look like at the verge of war honestly do we want to kill the only other source of income when we already our bloated government? I just wish they were a bit sensitive to the issue of our national image, I want to use the term "Kenya Hakuna Matata". Don't we miss that term and that song you would always here on KBC Swahili radio? Yeah those were the days and you would here the tourist try to ape the words I really doubt if they do it anymore.

Its scary to think the country that was ranked top five in Africa is slowly sliding to unimaginable numbers. we loosing a lot more of tourist to Tanzania and Uganda, we have countries like Malawi which was ranked on the poorest countries in Africa coming up putting up policies for tourism now they're terming themselves self sustained.

Ok what are our options to sustain the Tourism industry? I don't have the answers but the government has them and completely shelved wondering what we waiting for, 2030? Anyway I think its time we had KTB and the ministry working and talking the same language. we need to have an opening and allow fresh minds to work out strategies to make our tourism better. The idea of Brand Kenya may be of help but dont think its the approach Kenya wants. Just look at it we had the biggest exporter of Kiondo baskets what happened? I hear China has taken the industry.

I would like to see the cartels running tourism open up for new incomers to make them rich with new ideas. In copying SA where we have tourism prioritized such that any new ideas are taken up and funded by the board of tourism it has worked best to the point that at this time of expected world cup 2010 they are supposed to thrive through the idea.

Kenyan tourism needs its own Kenyan investors and those in low capital funded to realise there intentions of making tourims the best industry in Kenya, Africa and World wide. Local tourism is another way of self investment lets like what is ours. The love of our own would attract the world. Let us open avenues to restructure our economy. Tourism may be our Key!!!

All Talk where is the action

Well I promised myself will be off Politicians but how do you avoid ... got to get hold of myself because would be calling them names. For the hell purpose of it I at times peek at the Parliament broadcast sessions and boy don't I feel like looking for a cliff and flung myself over. Only that I know I love me self too much to do that fro people who wouldn't care if there mothers killed themselves over shame. We have the so called Honourables would be arguing some silly basic stuff you wonder out are they paid for this surely.

Today they had a Breakfast prayer meeting and Rwandese president graced the occasion. He looked at the Kenyan leadership and you could tell from his speech something is lacking terribly in them. He went further urging Kenyan leaders to see the example of the Rwandan demise to success. He said something very powerful but wondered who listened or who heard him I quote "... Kenya cannot afford to fail..." How many listened to that? Anyway yeah it was followed by a sloppy speech by our very own "... everything has a solution..."

Well how much of the talk is going to be actualized not that am holding my breath. Well my rural home MP the Infamous chief of bull fighting. Well he is termed to be the most outspoken Member of the current parliament. He is busy busting guys up in scandals others pure malice while others on point giving out a warning to the government to never relent on his quest to fight corruption. Yeah kudos mister bulls man, but while you are at it who is taking care of you damn constituency?

Dr. Bonny Khalwale, somebody has to take care of business at your home you know. I have always tried to

get home through the Sigalagala road and what a shame muheshimiwa the promises to tarmac the road have been for ever and you did promise too. We sick of the ideas you put to the young people telling them if they fixed the road where are they to get there pay given that especially when it rains they come to push vehicles. is that what you think of them you rather have them unstuck vehicles from a road you should be fighting to tarmac? Where is that Khalwale who is so passionate in the House when it comes to ensure that road is tarmacked?

Its sad how some of these leaders are busy two timing Kenyans. About the Budget are the parliamentary committee throwing mud to our eyes or are the watchdogs NGOs so wrong? How can we have the same mistake come up then its brushed of as just an error when it recurs the NGO is told they are witch hunting. Who is telling the truth because 10B is not a little money just a 1B can be enough to brib e a bunch of them Lawmakers to saying anything just like the way companies with interest have always done to them. Ain't there tricky stuff somewhere or its just me reading in too deep. The NGOs may be also poky in pursuance to get funded for there work thats why cant trust t hem totally but aint there something in there?

Back to the bull fighter I wish to say as long as the guy is doing nothing about the purpose he was given the job he should shut up. In Swahili its said "Nyani haoni ghubale" what do we call the disregard of of your duty to an office? Is it called misappropriation or abuse of office? Wasomi musaidie hapo. The guy was so keen on the maize saga but what about his own constituency dilapidated road conditions, where are the developments promised to the people. Even having an appropriate market place its the same old muddy places like Isulu, Musoli Ishukulu and so on cant these places be developed?

Mr. Bullfighter pull up your socks stop being public with emptiness in your own home we need to see how much you can fight for your own guys back there. Don't make us start to think of what if we had the rich boy up there.

Expectation. I would like to say that is pretty far away from my intentions. As a matter of fact it’s the love for the country that keeps me talking about it. In attempt to catch to the spirit of Brand Kenya, am obliged to take back a few of things I said in the yesterday note of branding Kenya. Apparently, it’s supposed to be a campaign to up the attitude of the young people. Watching certain programs and half watching others could feel it’s an attempt to let the young people and the youth to realize themselves in Kenya. In many of the programs they’re seen to enlighten the youth with various success stories as per the few who have made it in their various fields.

Must agree the young men in the country need their attitude looked into. It’s time the young people realized they have the opportunity to make themselves despite the unemployment cases rising to amazing stats and worse they are even cutting more from their jobs. It’s pointless to sit back and blame the government for their failures. The last time I checked the government has not bothered to create whatever number of jobs they kept promising. So it’s time the realized it’s up to them to be innovative regardless of the education standards. It’s the spirit of waiting for some form of tip up and free stuff that’s killing the entrepreneurship and business sense. This has made most youth to be vulnerable to the elite and the political misuse.

Hope we get real cases of success to just act as samples to the youth. Talking to foreigners living in Kenya and entrepreneurs they all talked of Kenya as the land of opportunity. That’s why they thought it’s the best place to come and put their investments. According to them back in their countries especial from the west, opportunities have been exhausted and there are no chances for new ideas because all have been thought for and done. When they look at what we have around its more opportunities available and since they are full of ideas they easily exploit them in the face of the young people and Kenyans.

All said and done would like to insist that it’s the placed policies that would help uplift and change the attitude of our young people in Kenya. We have seen some attempt to lend money and even have Small Businesses being sponsored the questions are; to what extend is the support? What policies have been put in place to ensure the new entrants to the business community are able to sustain themselves? I tend to believe with the issue of having the SMEs out there competing with the market giants is unfair business although it’s up to them to match up. The elephant companies always vows to be in the market hence push out the SMEs. We need some people or business gurus to enlighten the Small business on the issue of tackling the elephants of the market. Also with new policies and friendly relations with financiers and loaners can help enhance the young people with their small business.

Brand Kenya as an initiative is an amazing idea I would say again but what’s important is to ensure that it’s an issue of implementation from all quarters. We need to have the spirit working in to all institution both government and private, we need to have both the leaders and the citizen working together to ensure that pulling together and surge towards the Kenya we want. It’s time for the innovative minds to put together their ideas and push to better themselves. I wish the initiative works for all them young people in Kenya.

BRANDING KENYA?

Well what is perceived by the word brand? Probably you are wondering where I am going with this. Well some months or years ago we had Tusker Supermarket a local self help store. The perception and reception by the public it was viewed as one of the underground local stores and unconfirmed sources said it was going down at some point. With a string of stores around capital city and towns, the resulted to rebranding and sure enough it catapulted its revenue and image of the store rose high to the standard of the main stores like Nakumatt and the then Uchumi. The store just renamed its name to Tuskys and put some more definitive colours for outright identification.

Back to our case Brand Kenya, well would argue Kenya has always been a brand on its own rather we needed rebranding. The whole strategy is amazing and yes under normal circumstances it would pass to be the best ideal way of selling Kenya to the Diaspora and attract tourist and investors. It’s viewed as an extension of progressing the main agenda of Vision 2030. Quoting the Information PS Mr. Ndemo he claimed politicians give guidelines they follow and if something fails its due to lack implementation by the likes of them the PS and so on. Is this really true to have such a claim when we do know that they are employed by the same politicians? May be sounding dumb but who is the boss and what if the boss grounds your plan? He was addressing attendees during the Brand Kenya launch claiming we should not blame politicians and that it was them to implement. Really tend to think he was wrong because for a fact it’s the politicians who have assumed the role of what goes and what does not. Look at the situation of the constitution review we haven’t begun and the already at it. Soon am guessing us going to be back to Orange and Bananas politics.

Anyway I think if the issue of Brand Kenya would lack the political goodwill we would be like playing musical beats without lyrics or having tuneless music but is still music. Look at it this way; yes we have Brand Kenya initiative but what about the underlining Kenyan issues that keep propping up? What are the strategies put forward to addressing them? Through this initiative we have TV programs and Lobbyist send out to sell Kenya in the positive light and uplift its image plus to ensure deviate from the bad publicity Kenya had received since last year. Looking at the programs well would look at them and agree that yes it would pull up some public information inspire others and so on but are the political class in together with us or are they to stick back and be the spoiled potatoes to spoil the rest. Think about it, w busy painting this beautiful picture of oneness, safety and beauty of the country few days later some politicians comes out accusing the other of political assassination. With these grounds lobbies a community against the other going all tribal. Another scenario is when public scandals and mismanagement is the order of the day of government what are the investors to think?

In my view Brand Kenya is supposed to have from inside outside rather than just trying to do patch up work on the extremely spoiling image of the great nation. This should be an initiative for a cross section of the whole country. Every persons to be involved I expected to see the president in the foreground of Brand Kenya the PM was supposed to be on the foreground too but what did we see at the launch PS and people from the department and yeah our very own image portrayer the media. The previous initiatives looked so empty and almost disappointing struggle for damage control. The likes of Vision 2030 and The Kenya We Want.

We should be Branding Kenya from within we put policies to run and sustain the country regardless of the situations. We should have good and practical food policies that guide the importations, exportation, supply, distribution and production of food. This would ensure we have food security. We should ensure safety and security of Kenyans and their properties is paramount to the governance of the country. We should ensure we have policies to ensure basic wants like water and housing have been addressed appropriately. Empty promises made by politicians make the issue of Brand Kenya as another attempt of PR waiting to fall since we see nothing to sustain its accomplishment.

Being optimistic as they say its our duty as the Kenyan citizen to speak well of the beautiful country. The initiative should be done on a serious note such that the given TV programs identified should address the issues rather than cover them and better yet bring the solutions but surely we need politicians to be answerable so am thinking there involvement in the discussion and forums would just help us identify which of these leaders are for real. We love this beautiful country Kenya God bless it as we try every way to stay above!!!

DO WE CARE ANYMORE

I think we just saturated with the stupid politics peddling silly and very dangerous comments and views that have no mwananchi interest at heart. When someone stands on the podium and declares election is this really right at the plight of Kenyan struggle for recover after the just previous election never to mention global economic crunch is he serious?

I think we have an AG in this country why the heck are we even paying him if he can not come out and interpret the Constitution and the National Accord thingy which he should and msut be knowing better. Why is he even in the office if he cant act and why is he a coward to act and talk given that he has security of office no one can fire you AG, CAN YOU DO YOUR JOB!!!

Then why do we have some of these people as leaders surely when you can reason as low as chang'aa taking men down at the village yet you claim to have the vision for the country. The other day Mr. President was claiming to be sadden and depressed when he hears so many people complain, does he know that Kenyans are despaired by him being mum on things when he is supposed to be on top of things. Does he live in the same world like the rest of the Kenyans? On a TV interview Mr.Chris Kirubi a business icon he wondered on the same note do the politicians really understand on the harm they're causing on the business community too.

Some of the leaders the other day stepped up and refused to be paid seating allowances for the days that they felt nothing important of contribution was done during the previous sessions. Well we must recommend them and what a spectacle for the rest of them I could see how they veered clear of the issue like a plague anyway that's them.

Its to this cause that I think we slowly creating a nation where we are in a stupor we dont care anymore ask around did you catch the news last even, you will be surprised. This also heard on radio as listeners called claiming they don't bother anymore of what or who was on the news rather they are busy till just after the news just to catch there favourite series or drama programs. Is the nation slowly getting weary of the political jibberish because honestly I am also fighting the urge to shut out the world of politics and political issues. Tired of the talk on Migingo, Leader of Government Business the heck I care why not even call the help of Kalembe Ndile he may help you guys. Then the massacre of innocent lives in Central by Mungiki. Are we serious Mungiki? Where is the NSIS who even are these people do they exist or what is the the purpose of National Security and Intelligent Services...?

Well I know someone would read this and say am negative on the nation, trust me am one of the most optimistic Kenyan just hurting and please don't tell me the issues or the problem is us for voting these leaders where were you when we were? So the issue is lets talk on it the more we know the more we are out for what we want and know. A true Democracy, Real and transparent governance, Respect to Human Rights, Clear conscious leaders and representative of the people. At the end of the day we want Better education, Better health systems, Practical water and food policies, Job availability and opportunities for self employment and security that's all we ask and we are THE KENYA WE WANT!!!

Politics or Leadership

<img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; It’s rather disappointing to find people who do not care about the purpose of there being elected to the office they hold. For quite some time we been having political leaders who are political forgeting the most important thing leader which they seem to deem obscure.

The question is when we refer to this two people what do we mean? Looking at a definition from political scholars, A Politician is basically a person who has an influence on the government. He can influence the public decision because he is the one who gets a position of a decision maker inside the government or is the one who seeks such kind of positions. Normally, politicians do not have a functional role instead he is at the executive or legislative branch in the government. He has the power to vote the party leader and the leader of the government. He is an active party worker and has influence over politics of a country.

On the other hand who is a leader according to George Patton a great author is a man who can adapt principles to circumstances.

From the two definitions we get the scholars description but let look at it like laymen because at the end of the day its us the people who are affected. Would say politicians politic, and leaders act simply put out. This because for us to have political leaders we have to have people who can have decision made to better our nations than have politics being tossed around aimlessly. I think I speak for many when I say we tired of politics, when are we ever going to build this country from its state to another level? Some would say am ever lamenting and not giving solutions to the problem but we need people to realize everything is not ok. The other day was looking at what the impact of the words from the two principal has on the nation. Trust me fellow Kenyans its traumatic we may not be fighting but we don’t have peace. People from the grassroots are living in fear, the recent tussles of the Prime Minister and the president plus the failed Kilaguni talks made some just resettled IDPs to run for safety for fear of a return violence. Now people can we say they’re leaving peaceful?

This is why I say we lacking leaders we have lots of politician, I wish we could have people like the late Nyerere he sacrificed himself the pleasures and splendor, the glory our politicians crave for and would do anything to have. We lack leaders to serve the people rather than have people leave like slaves you know beg for food beg for water and beg for peace surely can we have leaders standing up. Lets replace these politicians lets have leaders to stand on principles guide the nation through this hour we really need to pass. Wish could say Martha Karua is one but how about her politics I believe she is one hell of a leader but can she take care of politics because its politics that destroy leaders.

We soon going to overcome let’s identify leaders and not politicians we have had enough of them they are just like empty debes out to make noise. People from mashinani haveto be reached let leaders tell them it’s not the 50 shillings from politicians that would help it’s the policies from the true leaders of how to get the 50 shillings that would sustain them. It’s time we took matters to our hands let’s put forward leaders and push out politicians.

Constitution!!

<meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; Former president Moi did just declare that and I quote "...mtazungushwa miaka yote kabla kupata katiba..." That’s a really disturbing confession and leaves much to imagination. One would ask was or is this issue of constitution lucking people and leaders committed to execute or make it workable. And true to his words we still groping around hoping that one day the constitution would finally be here.

Lets look at the situation clearly, what’s really stopping us from having the constitution if it isn’t the political class? For a fact they all have their interests vested in the document to which they feel like they would rather shove them down our throats. One thing they are forgetting is the document shall live past them to the future of their families, but again maybe it’s for the families. Why is it more important to them than the interest of the Kenyan population?

In 2005 Kenyans went to referendum all so convince to be voting for the right cause but was it? From what could see and tell it was more of political games and power proving. Fundamental issues are never discussed rather politicized and rallying communities to believe its against them for sure is that what Kenyans would wish to live up to. Seems the trend when politicians does anything or feels like he is pinned on something he runs to his people and starts to claim its them being targeted, shame on them.

In away the civil communty is also failing, this is because why should they wait till election or the referendum time for them to educate Kenyans about the constitution I think this is the time. Make us understand on such matters like devolution, dual citizenship, religion, gender issues, all these are in the top most document. With a proper understanding way from the political influence would make Kenyans prepared for the such events like referendum. I say again this is the perfect time for the civic education we need it right now.

Looking at what happened to the document I tend to agree with some scholars on the fact of letting professionals to rewrite the document now including issues and correcting the few contentious issues. From examples the constitution of the most powerful nation in the world was not written by them for heaven sake, US got the material needed and it was written in Japan. (I stand to be corrected). We have lost trust with our own people why not try it written out there? Just to ensure transparency.

I believe with well educated civic nation we are prone to bring the required revolution and a new constitution would live to protect it.

Long live Kenya and God bless Kenya!!!

AS THEY EYE 2012 WE ARE WATCHING THEM

Over the years we been taken for a ride in an old Layland Bus on a rough bumpy road to a direction and bus stops that would be at the choices of the driver and the conductors. At each bus stop we get hopes that we reached our destination only to find ourselves at a destinations further from what we intended to go at. Does this situation sound familiar if not I bet you not in Kenya or maybe you most ignorant person this country can do without.

Well first was the Kenyatta’s regime which I may as well say was the core of the many problems that Kenya experiences. With due respect to the fathers of this great nation I want to say if they had put there own selfish and self-righteous ambitions a side and looked at the building of the nation as a priority I want to believes we would be at the helm of development and success. A culture of selfishness was embedded in the country to the sense that whatever position one is the “me first” mentality sets in. All this for the purposes of enriching themselves no wonder we will ever claim to fight graft but who is fighting this graft if they are the same selfish people we have bestowed the ability to fight the so called graft.

Fast forwarding to the Moi Era well not much of change rather continuity of graft and all sorts of corruption and depleting the public coffers was the order of the day. To this he the other day in his retirement call pick-pockets in the bus, really! One is left to wonder but what happened to the many other things that happened under your watch eh? Well they say an informed society transforms it to development hence maybe the introduction of 8-4-4 which many of us passed through but what happened to it? Was there ever a projection and prognosis to its impact to the Kenyan society or was it for the lack of care to what happens because you children went abroad for schooling…

Come Kibaki Era, finally we thought we had the right driver hurrah!!! But wait celebration was too soon coz the bus was never replaced with a new one and it seemed pick-pockets were still on the bus too! Fat payments to ghost companies are we for real! Education they dropped all subjects thar made 8-4-4 with the flimsy reason burdening students what about the generations before weren’t they burdened? What would have happened if they had made it optional instead giving the country a diversity of man power, free education indeed… Constitution, who said it has to written by us given the fact we cant trust ourselves with this precious document? Wont give examples but it has been told before of countries of almost impeccable systems like the united states where they got there constitution written in Japan now isn’t it something to learn from? It has never amazed to me as to hoe Kenyans are taken for a ride for many matters. For example the 2005 referendum which was based to Kenyans to interpret the draft and go vote from understand while at the same time we still grappling with illiteracy and if any education minimal. How were Kenyans able to interpret whether it would work for us or not, well good answer the politicians made things easier for them but they’re all chameleons. They would change views depending whether it benefits them or not.

Yes with lots of confusion and bloodshed of innocent lives we get to Raibaki Era (Raila Kibaki era). We are led to believe this would work and for once the government would be in check from inside. The public had no hopes but what we call expectations. There was an expectation of better administration, upholding of human rights enhanced democracy, transparency and the list goes on and on. It was a shock when the PM would threaten the media and for that matter insinuates it was meant to ridicule them from mentioning him to graft issues. That was my saddest day ever! A further saliva spit on our face when the government led by the two principles hold a conference of “The Kenya We Want” how palatable to our ears was that? We have them as MPs not even taking the first step of saying I want my allowances taxed they haven’t shown any leadership skills. How further are we expected to be lead when the rest of us of meager earnings would pay taxes why not them and don’t give me that story of the law says it can be amended if you care about the public at all ever!

Graft will be there as long as we have selfishness and the idea of having high offices with attractive packages to give them the leeway to do what they feel like. How many would want to be MPs if they were required to pay taxes and were to buy vehicles from there own pockets no records of criminal activity including suspicion of corruption. What if they were made to declare wealth before election? Account there richness in public. All these made into law. None would admire that seat.

Already shamelessly we got 2012 contenders on the threshold are they out of there mind? Anyway I don’t care what they claim to want or there aspirations and ambitions but what are you doing in terms of practicability to the nation? What is out there is lots of bickering accusations and a lot more of “graft fighting”. Somebody please enlighten me when we have graft fighting how can we loose billions of shillings to one man? Why are our people dying of starvation? The other day shamelessly begging for money honestly is there hope for the nation? When can we ever going to have the government saying we cutting cost of expenditure by lets say fuel consumption where they have only a half of vehicles out to work am sure we got many other ways.

If you are eyeing the 2012 just remember we are eyeing you too can you stand out from these slithering snakes out there
